The Sheffield Pulmonary Vascular
Diseases Unit is one of four specialist centres in England and Wales
designated for the care of patients with pulmonary hypertension. The
unit provides a complete integrated package of assessment, diagnosis,
education and long term treatment of management of a variety of
conditions affecting the pulmonary circulation to the population of the
Midlands, Yorkshire and the North West of England and Wales.
Since it’s establishment at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in 1996, the
unit has developed extensive experience and expertise in this field and
has grown to one of the largest in Europe. With well developed
relationships with a network of referring centres across Middle England
and Wales, the unit currently routinely cares for more than 400 patients
per year. The unit has extensive links with pulmonary hypertension
centres both nationally and internationally, and actively participates
in many leading research projects. |
The Sheffield Pulmonary Vascular
Diseases Unit is committed to providing the highest level of support and
care for patients with pulmonary hypertension and related diseases. A
multi-disciplinary, patient focused team approach is central to our
philosophy. We endeavour to provide every patient referred to the
service the knowledge, skills and treatment options necessary to ensure
the best possible long term outcomes from this potentially devastating
condition.
